This kit is the minimum computer hardware and software needed to run a BMW B48. This is effectively a DIY system where you have your own vision and can use this system to put a B48 in anything you want. This package is the physical ECU, the Motec GPRP-DI Pro Firmware package that enables features to run the engine and the STROM B48D Tuning and Calibration Package that sets the calibrations for all B48 sensors, injectors and actuators as well as boost levels, ignition time, fueling, limp modes etc. You are welcome to use other sensors than we do for this package but must know how to calibrate them correctly in the firmware. This package is for someone that knows what they are doing or is not afraid to break stuff to learn. Please do not buy this if you do not have previous stand alone experience or have a shop that is going to help you. 

You can connect this system to any standard Motorsport display (Motec, ECUMaster, AIM, Bosch etc) or buy a more fully integrated package from us that uses Motec or ECUMaster display (Coming soon).

    • 93 Octane Stock Turbo - Max 270whp
    • 93 Octane Larger Turbo- Max 310whp
    • 98+ Octane Larger Turbo - Max 350whp
    • E85 flex fuel (with 91 as a base) and Larger Turbo - Max 430whp 

*Flex fuel tuning automatically varies allowable torque or boost based on current fuel composition flowing through the ethanol sensor. Requires Flex Fuel Sensor.

**Larger Turbo in this case is generally a TD04L 

***All power levels are rated sustainable power on a race track and have been calibrated for varying engine temperatures. High power levels have been achieved on the dyno for each power package but margin is left for piston heating at high sustained load.

General Info

The BMW B48 engine has proven to be powerful, efficient, reliable and cheap! But it is also complicated in many ways and can not be properly managed by an inexpensive ECU. With our fully developed Motec M142 ECU Package you can now run it on a pro motorsport grade stand alone system without having to do any of your own development. This series of engine calibration and tuning packages has been in the works for over 2 years, is in use on 8 race cars in various formats, and we are now making it available to the public. 

We have developed and tested this package to be able to run the engine correctly without having to extensively modify it. Our system correctly manages the following engine systems among others:

  • Direct Injection with the possibility to add on our Port Injection System for high RPM/load fuel mixing  (8 injectors total).
  • Direct Injection Pump Calibration and Control with closed loop fuel pressure
  • Closed Loop Servo Wastegate and Boost Control
  • Closed Loop Oil Pressure varied by RPM and Load
  • Closed Loop Intake and Exhaust Vanos 
  • Closed Loop H-Bridge Thermostat Control with temp based on RPM and Load
  • Fully Calibrated Knock System
  • Every stock component on the engine is correctly controlled without modification with the exception of the Valvetronic and Oil Level Sensor.

  • Driver Selectable Boost and Torque
  • Pitlane Speed Limiter
  • 10 Levels of Traction Control (Adjustable allowable slip) 
  • Autoblip rev match downshifting for manual trans (with clutch and brake sensors) or tuning and hardware to run a paddle shift sequential
  • 3 Levels of Antilag
  • 3 Levels of Throttle sensitivity
  • 3 Levels of Fuel Mixture Aim
  • Take Off mode that limits RPM and adjust torque for smooth takeoffs with a race clutch

The tuning software that comes with this system is not locked but we ask that you sign an NDA that you will not share or distribute the tuning information. While we would prefer that our significant amount of calibration time does not get given away we also do not want to impede people using the features of the hardware they have purchased so we are not password encrypting it.
